Departure day |
From
a young man, living in a hard condition in life and having been born to a poor and struggling family in Kandal province, I faced many difficulties and had to
persevere all the best to get normal survival living condition in life. Despite
all the hardship I and my family have been through with this nice and full of contentment family, my parents,
who always and still do their best – no matter day or night – to lift this
family up from poverty, always encourage me to try to learn as much as I could
for my future.

Having
fully encouraged to study, I always remember my father's words: "Try to
learn son! It will bridge you for your long life journey of success. As you
could see, I and your mother have nothing to gift you when you get older and
older since our family is very poor. We can only survive to drop you for
schooling, no other modernized materials supports – nice motor, phone, computer and the like – just like other
families. We only hope to see you guy with a brighter future". All of
these words are always with me, reminding me every single time I breath, and
even sometimes forcing my tears down, but it is worth to tear I would say. Due
to the fact that my family is poor, after freeing from school, I have to
sometimes help my father to lift heavy goods at Olympic market, where he earns
a living as a motor taxi (Moto Dup in Khmer) – he never stays just for
passengers as yet, but works as a worker to lift heavy things as well – for
this family. However, it is not enough
for us to stay survived if we depends solely on motor taxi income and lifting heavy
things. I and my brother sometimes go to work as cleaning shoes worker at a private business place where my
father serves his transportation service. With those conditions, my parents
could only survive to support us only for high school. The university life becomes invisible then.
Meaningful Family |
Admitted
in Pour Un Sourire d'Enfant (PSE) in 2008 and having already graduated from
high school, my university life started and the spirit of encouraging from my
parents inspired me to focus on my study. My dream of university life became real and the progressive step of learning moved forwards. If it was not for
PSE, I would say I would have kept working hardly as daily worker to earn a
living to support my family. After having heard the announcement from my
Business School advisor, Anthony Tige, that there was a golden opportunity for
one student to intern in Henkel based in Shanghai, China, another dream came
up. Following different processes of
selection from TOEFL test to face-to-face interview with both internal
professors and marketing director of Schwarzkopf professional, I managed to
make my dream real again and was invited to be part of Regional Marketing Team
for 6 months starting from October 2012 until the end of March 2013.

Without my parents' and PSE's supports and
helps, I would say I won't be the man I am today, having a good chance to
intern abroad and graduating university, and life would be even more miserable.
I won't also be able to make my parents' dream visible and even help myself to reach my goals in life. Thanks to your all support I could make it
fruitful that before I just thought it was an upbeat dream, yet now it is not a
just dream anymore. The world of possibility is now opening.
